Introducing the DDT540 (Direct Drive Tilt 540). This new tilt system is designed for small video and still cameras up to 4 lbs and 4” wide. It can easily be used with any of our pan systems such as the SPG785, DDP125, or bolted directly to a servo using our new servo hub. This system can be hung or set atop a servo or servo power gearbox of your choice. The top mounting bracket aligns perfectly with any of our aluminum hubs. The mounting tray can swing 360° inside the cradle. 1/4” diameter slots in the tray make it easy to attach just about any camera even if the camera mounting threads are off center. The drive end will hold any standard size Hitec or Futaba servo. An aluminum servo hub attaches to the servo and is then bolted to the swing tray. The other end is supported by an aluminum shaft protruding through a precision ball bearing capped off with a clamp collar. Comes complete with full instructions. (Servos or pan system not included)
Weight (no servos): 9.8 oz.
Tray Swing: 360°
Servos: 1 Standard Size (Hitec or Futaba)
Maximum Payload Weight: 4 pounds
Position: Hanging or Upright
DDT540 Specifications
(Shown with can for size reference)
The tilt tray has six 1/4” diameter slots for mounting various cameras or sensors. The tray can easily be detached by unscrewing the aluminum servo hub from the servo.
The top mount holes align with our aluminum clamping or set-screws hubs. This allows easy attachment to any of our mechanical parts. You can even set it up for a “roll” style system.
Our DDP125 with an HS-485HB servo is shown above and can easily handle this tilt system. The DDP125 can be bolted to an aircraft fuselage and the DDT540 simply clamps on for a super precise and rigid system.
Here an HSR-5995TG servo is panning the DDT540 180 degrees using our broached servo hub.
The opposite end of the tilt tray is supported by a precision ball bearing for extremely smooth rotation.
We highly recommend using our SPG785 pan system with the DDT540. Although a direct servo drive works very well for the pan, the SPG785 offers 360 degree+ proportional rotation as well as interchangeable gear ratios of various speeds.
Servos to use with the DDT540:
You have many choices of servos to use. We recommend the HS-485HB for cameras up to 2 lbs. For cameras up to 3 lbs., we like the HS-645MG and for cameras up to 4 lbs. the HS-985MG. All of these servos can be purchased modified for 180 degree operation which makes the DDT540 very versatile. Any standard size digital servo can also be used as well but are slightly louder do to the digital noise they make.
