This kit offers a simple way to add a motor to your IGUS® W1080-B slider.  The kit includes all the hardware, brackets, pulleys and belt to upgrade from a manual slider to one that can be drivin by a DC gearmotor to create smoother, more consistant linear motion.  We have designed this kit using our versatile line of Actobotics components so that once built, you can easily modify or add other components to customize it as desired. The included motor mount is compatible with our Standard Spur Gear Motors (gear motor sold separately). 

For those who wish to drive the IGUS® W1080-B slider with a stepper motor, check out our 'tech tip' below on how to install a stepper motor in place of a Standard Spur gear motor.

Assembly: Assembly of the slider kit can be done with minimal tools (Phillips screwdriver, 3/32” allen driver, 7/64” allen driver, and a 5/32” allen driver).  Please check out our assembly tutorial videos in the 'tech tips' below.

SPECS

Slider speed calculation: The following formula can be used to help select the correct speed of gear motor.

RPM of gear motor needed = 11.6 / (# of seconds desired for full travel / 60)

Examples:
If you want the slider to move the entire length (35” of usable slide) in 20 seconds, you can plug it in to the formula:
11.6 / (20sec / 60) = 35RPM motor
Or, if you want the slider to move the entire length (35” of usable slide) in 1 hour, make sure to plug in the time value in seconds:
11.6 / (3600 sec / 60)= 0.193RPM motor
The 0.5RPM motor running at just under half speed would yield this speed.

(1) 1/4” to 1/4” Set Screw Shaft Coupler

To make this kit compatible with a NEMA 17 stepper motor you will need the following items:
(1) 1/2 Hub Spacer
(1) NEMA 17 Motor Mount
(1) 5mm to 1/4” Set Screw Shaft Coupler
